SiDBFCz is a silane-based bipolar host with high triplet energy developed for highly efficient deep-blue phosphorescent OLEDs. SiDBFCz consists of a dibenzo[b,d]furan centre with a carbazole and a triphenylsilane substituents at 2,4-positions of dibenzo[b,d]furan centre. SiDBFCz is characterized with high triplet energy over 2.9 eV and known to enhance the device operational stability dramatically due to the bond dissociation energy and the activation energy for the bond dissociation reaction in the triplet excited state.
External quantum efficiency over 19 % without any microcavity optimization is achieved for deep-blue PHOLED based on Ir(cb)3 doped SiDBFCz. The device lifetime of the SiDBFCz based PHOLED is dramatically improved for more than 1000 %, compared to the most commonly used host materials for deep-blue PHOLEDs, i.e. mCP and TSPO1, at an initial luminance of 500 cd m−2.
