Dye-Sensitised Solar Cells (DSSC) materials

Originally developed by Professor Michael Graetzel and Dr Brian O’Regan, and often referred to as "Grätzel cells", Dye-Sensitised Solar Cells (DSSC) are thin film solar cells designed around organic dyes in electrochemical cells. They are considered to be the third generation of solar cell, are comparatively cheap and straight-forward to produce, and do not require the use of toxic chemicals. Recent research around DSSCs has focused on improving their stability and efficiency.

Our range of DSSC materials includes active dyes such as the foundation dye N3, black dye N749, and cobalt electrolyte materials.
