4,4',4''-(Pyridine-2,4,6-triyl)tribenzaldehyde (TBAPy) is a triagonal ligand linker with an electron deficient pyridine core connecting three benzaldehydes at 2,4,6-positions. The aldehyde functional groups can form imines via condensation reaction with amines for constructing covalent organic frameworks (COFs).

Car-TPP-COF, obtained through the condensations of triangular node Car-3NH2 and the triangular linker 4,4',4''-(pyridine-2,4,6-triyl)tribenzaldehyde to form imine linkages, demonstrated high surface area of 721 m2 g−1 and high degrees of CO2 capture of 34 mg g−1 at 298 K.
