Covalent Organic Frameworks (COFs) Triphenyls Ligand

Cross shaped linker for covalent organic frameworks (COFs) in application of chemical sensors, photocatalyst for hydrogen evolution reactions (HERs)

4',5'-Bis(4-aminophenyl)-[1,1':2',1''-terphenyl]-4,4''-diamine (BAPTPDA) is a cross-shaped terphenyl with 4 aniline groups sitting at 1,2,4,5-positions of a benzene ring. It has been mainly engaged as a tetratopic linker to construct COFs by condensation reactions with acids or aldehydes.

Magnetic covalent organic framework Fe3O4@COF(BAPTPDA-Dt), prepared by the Schiff base condensation of 2,5-dihydroxy-1,4-benzenedicarboxaldehyde and 4',5'-bis(4-aminophenyl)-[1,1':2',1″-terphenyl]-4,4″-diamine, demonstrates excellent magnetism, stability and recyclability. Fe3O4@COF(BAPTPDA-Dt) exhibits rapid extraction and sensitive determination of AFM1 and AFM2 in milk with negligible matrix effect.

Imine-linked COFs with 4',5'-bis(4-aminophenyl)-[1,1':2',1''-terphenyl]-4,4''-diamine building blocks has also been used as photocatalysts for hydrogen evolution reactions (HERs). The orientation of nitrogen atom in the imine bond has great impact on the efficiency of exciton dissociation and charge separation processes by the influence of local charge polarization and delocalization imposed by nitrogen..
