Crystalline Pyrene Derivative

Widely used as photoinitiator and environment-sensitive fluorophore, >98% purity

Specifications | MSDS | Literature and Reviews

1-Acetylpyrene is a derivative of polycyclic hydrocarbons pyrene featuring an acetyl group on the first carbon of the flat fused pyrene ring. With crystal structures based on π⋯π-dimers, polymorphs β and γ 1-acetylpyrene show intense luminesce from blue to green, while its α polymorph, with a herringbone packing motif, is non-luminescent. Conjugated pyrene is a a sensitive fluorescence probe where its emission is highly sensitive to medium polarity and the molecular stacking.

1-Acetylpyrene emits broad dimer-based fluorescence centred around 390-410 nm due to strong π-π stacking interactions in solution. Sensors based on 1-pyrenecarboxaldehyde exhibit ultra-low detection limits of 0.33 μM for hydrazine by triggering rapid optical changes visible to the naked eye. 1-Acetylpyrene induces type I binding spectra with human cytochrome P450 2A13 and efficiently oxidized by the enzyme to several oxygenated products.
