Covalent Organic Frameworks (COFs) m-Terphenyl Ligand

An aldehyde functionalized V-shaped linker for COFs in applications of electroluminescent materials and sensors

Overview | Product Information | Related Products

1,1'3',1''-Terphenyl-4,4''-dicarbaldehyde (CAS number 171820-02-3) is a meta-terphenyl building block substituted with two aldehyde groups. The two aldehyde functional groups allow 1,1'3',1''-terphenyl-4,4''-dicarbaldehyde to form a cross-linked COFs with amine/ketone derivatives. 1,1'3',1''-Terphenyl-4,4''-dicarbaldehyde can be further functionalized with 9-bromoanthracene through a Pd-catalysed direct arylation reaction. The resulting anthracene-terphenyldicarbaldehyde was used to prepare a one-dimensional COF for chromium (III) detection.

1,1'3',1''-Terphenyl-4,4''-dicarbaldehyde undergoes a 'one-pot' reaction to synthesize an efficient violet-blue emitter 4,4′′-bis(1-(4-(tert-butyl)phenyl)-1H-phenanthro[9,10-d]imidazol-2-yl)-1,1′:3′,1′′-terpheny. The meta-position of terphenyl group plays a crucial role in confining π-conjugation, leading to efficient violet-blue emission. A violet-blue OLED based on this emitter exhibits high performance, with current efficiency of 1.99 cd/A and power efficiency of 1.81 lm/W.
