NMC811 single crystal is an active cathode material for lithium-ion batteries. Compared to polycrystalline NMC811, this powder features higher density and superior particle uniformity, enabling improved packing density and enhanced volumetric energy density. Single crystal particles of NMC811 eliminate internal grain boundaries, significantly reducing microcracking during cycling. As a result, the material minimizes the surface area exposed to the electrolyte, leading to improved interfacial stability, enhanced safety, and extended cycle life.

Single crystal NMC811 powder demonstrates superior thermal stability, rate capability, and structural integrity compared to polycrystsalline NMC811. These advantages become increasingly pronounced at elevated temperatures and high current densities. While both polycrystalline and single crystal NMC811 deliver comparable initial discharge capacity, single-crystal NMC811 provides at least a 10–15% improvement in discharge capacity under high-rate conditions (162 mAh/g vs. 131 mAh/g at 5C), making it an ideal choice for high-power and high-energy-density battery applications.
