Platinum Mesh Electrode, Reinforced
Reinforced Platinum (Pt) Mesh Counter Electrodes
Widely used in standard electrochemistry cells for cyclic voltammetry analysis, sensors and fuel cells
Overview | Specifications | Pricing and Options
Platinum mesh electrodes normally serve as the counter electrode in three-electrode electrochemistry systems. Our platinum mesh electrodes consist of a high purity platinum (Pt) mesh and a polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) body, providing superior oxidation and corrosion resistance. Being considered as an inert metal, platinum does not participate in the chemical reactions that happen on the surface of the electrode. The mesh offers the great advantage of a large surface area, which is critical to support the current conduction generated on the working electrode.
Platinum auxiliary electrodes include platinum wire, sheet and mesh electrodes. Platinum mesh electrodes are suitable for both aqueous and organic solvent-based electrolytes. In photoelectrocatalytic reactions, platinum mesh is relatively more suitable as a counter electrode for its porous network structure.
Platinum mesh electrodes are used in electrochemical applications such as fuel cells, water electrolysis for hydrogen production, and sensors due to their high surface area, conductivity, and chemical inertness.
