Platinum Coil Electrode
Platinum Coil Counter Electrodes
Widely used in standard electrochemistry cells for cyclic voltammetry analysis, sensors and fuel cells
Overview | Specifications | Pricing and Options
Platinum coil electrode is a platinum wire electrode with the platinum wire made into a coiled shape to increase the surface area for better current conduction. Platinum coil electrode serves as counter electrode in electrochemical or photoelectrochemical reactions. Platinum coil electrode is ideal for bulk electrolysis with high current support and it offers a fundamental tool in electrochemical analysis in a three-electrode electrochemical setup, i.e. cyclic voltammetry or linear sweep voltammetry. Platinum coil electrode is also engaged to facilitate reactions in fuel cells, which convert chemical energy into electricity.
When glassy carbon rotating-disk electrode is employed as the working electrode and platinum coil electrode as auxiliary, platinum electrocatalyst encapsulated by nitrogen-containing single-walled carbon nanotubes (Pt/N-SWCNT) for oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) in polymer electrolyte fuel cell (PEFC) shows a smaller reduction in maximum power density (39.5%) than Pt/SWCNT (48.3%) after 8000 potential cycles.
