Me-PhpPACz is a self-assembled monolayer material with a 3,6-methylcarbazole terminal group, a conjugated phenylene ring spacer and a phosphonic acid anchor. The only difference between Me-4PACz and Me-PhpPACz is the type of linker connecting the anchor and the terminal groups. Me-4PACz has a flexible butyl alkyl linker while Me-PhpPACz has a rigid conjugated phenylene linker.
Me-PhpPACz also enables more densely and orderly packed films with higher photoelectrical stability. It not only modifies the work function (WF) of the electrode in contact, but also facilitates charge carrier extraction and transport as the interface between the photoactive layer and electrode for inverted perovskite solar cells (IPSCs). Record high power conversion efficiency of 26.17% with an extremely high fill factor of 86.79% and exceptional long-term stability was achieved for Me-PhpPACz monolayer-based IPSCs as hole selective contact.
Serving as hole selective contact for organic solar cells and perovskite solar cells, Me-PhpPACz is an alternative to PEDOT:PSS with superior performance and the convenience of solution deposition at low concentrations, i.e. 1 mM.
Solution Processing Procedure
Typical processing solvents: Ethanol, methanol, IPA, DMF, THF
Typical concentration: 1 mM - 1.0 mg/ml
Typical processing procedure: Me-PhpPACz is dissolved in ethanol at the concentration of 0.5 mg/mL. The ITO/SAMs were deposited by spin-coating the solution on the top of the ITO glass substrate at 5000 rpm for 30 s and then annealed at 150 °C for 10 min, followed by a rinse after annealing with a 0.5 mg/mL solution of Al2O3 in ethyl acetate (DOI: 10.1016/j.joule.2024.05.005).
