Overview | Product Information | MSDS | Related Products
Carbon black (CB) nanopowder (CAS number 1333-86-4) consists of intensely black, nanoscale particles of amorphous or para-crystalline carbon. These particles are finely divided and highly dispersed, yielding a high surface area and uniform particulate morphology. They fuse together during formation to create aggregates of varying sizes and shapes.
Carbon black nanoparticle aggregates have a spheroidal shape with an average particle size of ~30 nm. They exist as an amorphous core surrounded by a shell of stacked graphene-like domains each made of a nanometric stack of polyaromatic sheets. As a result, carbon black nanopowder has a high surface-area-to-volume ratio.
Carbon black is valued for its unique physical properties, excellent electrical conductivity, and resistance to wear. Conductive carbon black (CCB) nanopowder is reliable, cost-effective and commonly used as a conductive additive in battery electrodes. The conductivity of carbon black is related to its particle size, structure, and porosity.
