3TCN-HD-2Br, or 5,5’’-Dibromo-4,4’’-bis(2-hexyldecyl)-[2,2’:5’,2’’-terthiophene]-3’-carbonitrile, is a terthiophene intermediate. 3TCN-HD-2Br has 2-hexyldecyl branched side chains on each of the two end thiophenes, and an electron deficient cyano (CN) group on the middle thiophene. This cyano-group can promote intermolecular interaction, improving the film crystallinity of the targeted materials, i.e. polymers, and giving appropriate miscibility when blending with non-fullerene acceptors (NFAs).
