Take control of essential coating parameters with our automatic doctor blade coater. The included applicator is made from stainless steel with digital micrometer gauges. Make micron-level adjustments to the gap height (up to 10 mm) with ultimate accuracy for a range of film thicknesses as you optimize your coatings.
The integrated software makes it easy to adjust and set the coating speed, from 0.05 mm.s-1 to 250 mm.s-1. Beyond blade coating, you can also use Mayer rods, which can be purchased separately, for further flexibility as you experiment with and optimize your coatings. The doctor blade coater can either come with a simple glass stage or a vacuum stage for uniform holding across the whole substrate.

The digital micrometer head provides high accuracy blade positioning. For improved reproducibility and efficiency, the blade is calibrated to the zero position of the micrometer gauge. Then, optimize your coatings with smooth, reliable movement at speeds as low as 0.05 mm.s-1 and as high as 250 mm.s-1. Choose the right speed for a wide range of solution viscosities and consistently produce coatings without defects.
Versatile Coating Area
With a maximum travel distance of 290 mm, scaling up your doctor blade coating processes has never been easier. You can customize the width of your film applicator to match your research needs, with coating widths as low as 50 mm up to 200 mm. And the automated system is also compatible with other coating accessories like Mayer bars, Sheen applicators, or Bird applicators.
Ideal for Flexible Substrates
If you are coating flexible substrates, choose our vacuum model paired with the Ossila Vaccum Pump. With a maximum vacuum of 330 mbar and a 7 L/min maximum flow rate, it is perfect for securing flexible or foil substrates. Keeping your flexible substrate still and level is essential to producing uniform, defect-free coatings.
