Overview | Product Information | Related Products
MIL-100(Fe) is an iron-based metal-organic framework (MOF), named after Matériaux de l'Institut Lavoisier (MIL). The framework consists of iron metal centres bridged by benzene-1,3,5-tricarboxylic acid (trimesic acid) linkers. Its cubic crystal structure is constructed from tri-iron oxo-centred clusters, adopting the space group Fd3m. MIL-100(Fe) features two types of mesoporous cages of 25 Å and 29 Å, accessed via pentagonal and hexagonal windows respectively.
MIL-100(Fe) has demonstrated strong performance in CO₂ capture, with a reported peak uptake of 1.91 mmol/g. The adsorbed CO₂ can be readily released upon heat treatment, enabling regeneration of the material. Owing to its low toxicity and biocompatibility, MIL-100(Fe) is well-suited for drug delivery applications. A novel magnetic nanocomposite of Fe2O3@chitosan-MIL-100(Fe) exhibits 95.36% drug loading efficiency for curcumin, with a maximum drug release of 40% based on the Korsmeyer–Peppas model.
