Aqueous Ag/AgCl reference electrodes and non-aqueous Ag/Ag⁺ reference electrodes are two of the most commonly used types for cyclic voltammetry, electrolysis and other electrochemical studies. Our low-price aqueous Ag/AgCl reference electrode make no compromises on quality and are sold sealed in a ceramic frit junction.

The aqueous Ag/AgCl reference electrode features a silver wire coated with silver chloride is used for direct contact with saturated potassium chloride, typically 3M concentration in distilled water (not included). Our Ag/AgCl reference electrode is simple, stable, and is capable of miniaturization.

Please note that the aqueous Ag/AgCl reference electrode is ideal for neutral solutions, and may also suitable for weak acidic/basic environments, i.e. pH = 1 - 8. However, it is not recommended for prolonged exposure to strong basic or acidic solutions which can cause the silver wire to oxidize and the coated silver chloride layer to decompose !
