Aqueous Ag/AgCl reference electrodes and non-aqueous Ag/Ag+ reference electrodes are two of the most commonly used types for cyclic voltammetry, electrolysis and other electrochemical studies. Our low-price aqueous Ag/AgCl reference electrode make no compromises on quality and are sold sealed in a ceramic frit junction.
The aqueous Ag/AgCl reference electrode features a silver wire coated with silver chloride is used for direct contact with saturated potassium chloride, typically 3M concentration in distilled water (not included). Our Ag/AgCl reference electrode is simple, stable, and is capable of miniaturization.

Please note that the aqueous Ag/AgCl reference electrode is ideal for neutral solutions, and may also suitable for weak acidic/basic environments, i.e. pH = 1 - 8. However, it is not recommended for prolonged exposure to strong basic or acidic solutions which can cause the silver wire to oxidize and the coated silver chloride layer to decompose.
Regular cleaning is recommended. In the event that the ceramic frit becomes blocked and cannot be cleared, replacement reference electrode salt bridges are available.
