Technical Data | MSDS | Literature and Reviews
Titanium dioxide (TiO2), also known as titania or titanium(IV) oxide, is one of the most widely used and promising metal oxide semiconducting materials due to its unique properties such as abundance in nature, non-toxic, high physical and chemical stabilities, wide bandgap, the ability to both absorb and scatter the UV light. Apart from its main application as a pigment because of its brightness and opacifying strength, TiO2 has been explored in various fields including photocatalysis, sensors, rechargeable ion batteries, solar cells, medicines, food and cosmetic industry.
Titanium dioxide has three most common crystal polymorphs, anatase, rutile, and brookite. Rutile is the most thermally stable polymorph, as both brookite and anatase are transformed into rutile when exposed to higher temperatures. All three forms exhibit photoactive properties, with anatase being the most photoactive in photocatalytic and photovoltaic activities possessing the largest bandgap (3.2 eV) and higher surface energy of the three forms.
The Nano-sized titanium dioxide powders are believed to be environmentally friendly. they have wide applications fields due to their excellent structural, optical, and chemical properties. The photocatalytic process of nanopowder-TiO2 converts light energy into electrical or chemical energy under mild conditions. TiO2 nanomaterials have been proven to be one of the most effective and useful semiconducting materials in the fields of photocatalysis, dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs), energy storage devices, as well as air and water purifications.
Being hydrophilic with high specific surface area, P25 Titanium dioxide in powder form is largely used as a catalyst in the field of detoxification of aqueous effluents by photocatalysis. P25 Titanium dioxide has a mixture of crystal phase of anatase, rutile and amorphous.
Titanium Dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles anatase aqueous dispersion can be readily deposited to form films for applications in photocatalysis and DSSCs.
