FIC
FIC, namely 2-[5(6)-Fluoro-3-oxo-2,3-dihydro-1H-inden-1-ylidene]malononitrile, is a mono-fluorinated electron deficient end group that is used for the synthesis of highly efficient non-fullerene acceptors, i.e. L8-BO-F.
It is believed that fluorination of the end groups can promote intermolecular interactions through forming noncovalent F···S and F···H bonds to further extend the absorption of the targeted NFAs into near infrared (NIR).
