Getting Started with the Ossila Contact Angle Goniometer


Setting up the Ossila Contact Angle Goniometer is a straightforward process that involves a few simple steps. Follow these clear instructions to ensure a smooth and efficient setup for accurate measurements.

Setup


  1. Place the spirit level on top of the tilt stage.
  2. Adjust the screws to level the stage.
  3. Plug in the USB cable.
  4. Plug in the power cable.
  5. After that you will have completed the setup of the Ossila Contact Angle Goniometer.

Recording


  1. Select a save directory and start the camera.
  2. Place a substrate on the tilt stage.
  3. Set the recording time and frame rate.
  4. Click the record button.
  5. Dispense a droplet and wait for the recording to finish.
  6. The recording will automatically save upon completion.

Analysis



  1. Select the Analyse tab in the contact angle software.
  2. Click "Load Video" and choose a recording to analyse.
  3. Use the "Last Frame" button to skip to the end of the video.
  4. Adjust the "Baseline Angle" until the droplet corners are level.
  5. Set the baseline for the region of interest.
  6. Position the droplet within the two lines by adjusting the left and right sliders.
  7. Fine-tune the ROI with the slider buttons.
  8. Return to the start of the video using the "First Frame" button.
  9. Play the video, press "stop" when the desired frame is reached.
  10. Navigate through individual frames using left and right arrows.
  11. Chose the "Save Directory" and filename.
  12. Click "Analyse" to calculate the contact angle
  13. Play the video to the end
  14. The software will measure the contact angle in each frame and plot them in the "results" area.
  15. Click "Save Results" to save the measured contact angles as .csv files in the chosen directory.
