Enhanced Guanidinium Tetrafluoroborate Stability

Enhanced Stability

Reduced hysteresis behaviour, increased moisture stability

Improved morphology of active layer 36595-00-3

Improved morphology of active layer

Smoother surface, higher crystallinity, efficiently passivated surface defects and optimized interfacial energy level alignment

With guanidinium tetrafluoroborate as the additive in the active layer materials, CH3NH3PbI3/PCBM for surface treatment, the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of devices increases from 18.09% to 20.54% for small devices (active area 0.10 cm2) and from 12.35% to 15.52% for large devices (active area 1.0 cm2). It is believed that the GuaBF4 surface treatment not only promotes charge carrier transport and extraction between the CH3NH3PbI3/PCBM interface, but also endows the CH3NH3PbI3 film with larger grains, smoother surface, higher crystallinity, efficiently passivated surface defects and optimized interfacial energy level alignment. Additionally, the surface treatment displays reduced hysteresis behaviour, increased moisture stability. The unencapsulated devices exhibit no performance degradation after storage in dry air for 1000 hours.
