Low price, high purity 2D manganese phosphorus triselenide powder and crystal
For the development of next-generation electronics, optoelectronics, and nanotechnology
Manganese phosphorus triselenide (MnPSe3) is a layered antiferromagnetic (AFM) Heisenberg-type semiconductor with Néel temperature at 74 K.
Monolayer manganese phosphorus triselenide (MnPSe3) is an intrinsic semiconductor with antiferromagnetic (AFM) ordering at its ground state. Each Mn2+ ion is antiferromagnetically coupled to its three neighboring Mn2+ ions, forming an AFM ordering. The spin density is mainly localised at two Mn2+ ions with the opposite spin magnetic moments, while P and Se atoms have the negligible magnetic moments.

It shows that AFM state is more stable than the ferromagnetic (FM) state by about 40 meV per unit cell for 2D MnPSe3 and the bulk AFM characteristic can be well preserved in its monolayer structure. However, both electron and hole doping or biaxial tensile strain about 13% can induce its transition from antiferromagnetic semiconductor to ferromagnetic half-metal.
We supply low price manganese phosphorus triselenide in several different forms for a range of applications.

Structure of Manganese Phosphorus Triselenide
In its bulk form, MnPSe3 crystalises in a rhombohedral FeCl3 structure. Arranged in a honeycomb hexagonal form, each Mn atom is coordinated to and sandwiched by two layers of S atoms, three in each layer. Those S atoms form triagonal pyramids with two P-P atoms at each end of a dumbbell structure. The dumbbell is often referred to as a [P2Se6]4- cluster.
Properties of Manganese Phosphorus Triselenide
After exfoliation of manganese phosphorus triselenide crystal or powder, MnPSe3 typically has the following properties:
- Rhombohedral (space group: R3)
- Transition metal phosphorus trichalcogenides (MPX3)
- Antiferromagnetic (AFM) Heisenberg-type semiconductor with Néel temperature at 74K.
- AFM state is more stable than the ferromagnetic (FM) state
- AFM characteristic can be well preserved in its monolayer structure
- Transition from antiferromagnetic semiconductor to ferromagnetic half-metal by both electron and hole doping or biaxial tensile strain
Applications of Manganese Phosphorus Triselenide
Manganese phosphorus triselenide (MnPSe3) single crystals can be used to prepare monolayer and few-layer MnPSe3 by mechanical or liquid exfoliation. Manganese phosphorus triselenide powder is suitable for liquid chemical exfoliation to prepare MnPSe3 nanosheets and nanoparticles down to few-layer films.
Manganese phosphorus triselenide (MnPSe3) has a great potential in spintronics with its particular advantages in solar energy conversion and storage applications and novel spin-valley coupling physics.
Manganese phosphorus triselenide (MnPSe3) has a great potential in spintronics with its particular advantages in solar energy conversion and storage applications and novel spin-valley coupling physics.
Manganese phosphorus triselenide ultrathin films have strong absorption in the visible-light spectrum, photocatalytic water splitting into hydrogen and oxygen simultaneously, broad applicability (pH = 0–7), high carrier mobility and availability from nature abundant elements, MnPSe3 nanosheets has great potentials as photocatalysts for water splitting.
What is spintronics? Spintronics is the study of the intrinsic spin of the electron and its associated magnetic moment. Spintronics measurement does not relies on electrons' charge, but on another of their fundamental quantum-mechanical properties, spin.
