Slot-Die Coater Accessories
Ossila's Slot-Die Coater comes with a range of accessories included with the system. However, it can be beneficial to have additional accessories to speed up the processing of devices, reduce chances of cross contamination, or to allow for the processing of a wider variety of solutions and parameters. Below is the full range of accessories that can be purchased to go alongside the slot die coating system.
For transferring the solution between the disposable syringe and the slot die head a section of tubing is required. Ossila sells pre-assembled PTFE tubing with male and female Luer connections already attached. Having separate tubing for each different material being used reduces the chance of cross contamination and improves the reproducibility of experiments.

Slot-die coating heads require the use of shims to define the coating width. Shims can also be used as spacers to separate the sections of the heads to change the internal pressure for higher flow rates or more viscous solutions. Ossila sell slot-die shims in packs of 5 with predefined coating widths of 25 mm and 50 mm. Custom shim widths are available upon request. A full list of in stock shim designs can be found here.

Slot-die coating heads provide channels for the even distribution of solution across the width of coating. The shape of the lips at the exit to the head can help to stabilize the coating bead and provide improved coating quality. Combined with the slot-die shims, the slot die head, can provide even coating across a wide range of different coating rates and solution viscosities.
