Why the Ossila Team Love Sheffield!
Just some of the reasons why we all love living in Sheffield! All the photographs included are taken by members of the Ossila team.
Weston Park (pictured) is less than a ten-minute walk from the Ossila office and attracts people and wildlife alike.
Hathersage, The Peak District
Sheffield is set on seven hills meaning much of the city is built on hillsides with beautiful views into the city centre or out to the countryside.
A third of the city lies within the Peak District National Park, which is only a 15-minute drive away from the city centre and is also on plenty of bus routes. With opportunities for walking, cycling, climbing and many more outdoor activities.
Sheffield has also been named the UK’s safest major city according to the UK Peace Index 2013. It is easy to get around the city walking, cycling or by public transport with regular buses and the Supertram!
The city centre itself has many opportunities to experience culture or to just sit, relax and appreciate the scenery.

There are regular food markets allowing the chance to buy local produce. A favourite Sheffield delicacy of ours is Henderson’s Relish, which has been produced in Sheffield for over 100 years.
Sheffield also has many museums catering to a wide range of interests, as well as art galleries and arts and craft exhibitions. There are also Sheffield Theatres including City Hall, The Crucible and The Lyceum. Additionally, if you like independent film there is the Showroom Cinema which is one of the largest independent cinemas in the country.

The city’s two universities bring a huge student population and with one of the highest student retention rates in the UK we can see why the students love it! Many of our own Ossila staff are from The University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University. As well as bringing students, the universities bring a diverse range of iconic architecture to the city.

Pies at The Broadfield
If you are into your food Sheffield has much to offer in terms of restaurants, offering a wide range of cuisine from pies to noodles or even tapas, we have it all. Sheffield is also great for ale! With the city's largest remaining brewery at Kelham Island, producing cask conditioned, real ale.
Sheffield has a lot to offer in terms of sport. With two professional football teams, Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United, who have a huge rivalry. As well as boasting to be the birthplace of the modern game at Hallam FC!
Which team will you choose?...
There is also The Crucible which hosts the world snooker championship every year, ice hockey with the Sheffield Steelers, both codes of rugby with the Sheffield Tigers and Eagles, the famous Sheffield Sharks basketball team. Not forgetting the speedway at Owlerton Stadium which is the fastest track in Britain if you are into a bit of greyhound racing. On top of all that there are world class facilities at the English Institute of Sport for athletics and many other sports.
There are plenty of opportunities for new experiences, so come and discover Sheffield!
