Video: How to Spin Coat to the Very Edge of a Substrate When Using a Viscous Solution

This video demonstrates how to spin coat to the very edge of a substrate when using a highly viscous solution (such as PMMA at high concentrations). By using the pipette tip to carefully drag the meniscus of the solution to the edge of the substrate it is possible to coat the entire substrate and avoid serious edge defects (note that edge effects will still cause thickness variations very close to the substrate edge). If carefully done it is also possible to pull the meniscus over the substrate using the pipette without actually touching it to ensure that the substrate doesn't get damaged.
