4-Pentylphenyl 4-propylbenzoate, liquid crystal (nematic)
Liquid crystal for the application of optical electronics i.e. in liquid-crystal display (LCD).
4-Pentylphenyl 4-propylbenzoate (PPPB), CAS number 50649-60-0, is a nematic liquid crystal with a chemical structure of 4-propylphenyl ester of 4-pentylphenyl.
Two relaxation times, τ1 and τ2, are observed in the nematic phase of 4-pentylphenyl 4-propylbenzoate which are the characteristic of Cole–Davidson model. Those relaxation times are interpreted as different degrees of freedom in different direction in liquid crystalline state.
