Spray-Coated Perovskites Become Big News

Last week the Daily Mail reported on the paper written by Sheffield University's Alex Barrows et al which found 11% efficiencies from spray coated perovskite based solar cells.

The paper demonstrated that perovskite based solar cells have the potential to be produced in high volumes at low costs whilst remaining incredibly efficient. The Daily Mail report noted that the spray coating technique would allow perovskite based solar cells to be applied to almost any surface.

Professor David Lidzey stated that the study is "a significant step towards efficient, low-cost solar cell devices made using high volume roll-to-roll processing methods" and that new technologies such as this "are going to have an important role to play in the driving uptake of solar-energy."

At Ossila we are currently investigating perovskites and in the coming weeks will be able to provide products, materials and fabrication guides to allow our customers to begin their own perovskite research programmes.
